Funny thing is I've not seen the RGP status in the PIR whois. Anyone?

Going back to that basic point. Who makes out with this new policy?

Who gets the the $ 150? fee for redeming the name out of the grace period? Registrar?

If it goes to drop - what does the registrar get? "0"

So, isn't logical that PIR wants to make the registrars happy? And, does PIR get a piece of the fee? I don't know.

If it goes to drop. And, the original owner wants the name again. Or, the new buyer sells the name. Who makes the money? "US"

I am sure PIR says that it is in the best interest of domain owners. But, it is another way for the registrars to make a profit.

So, logically, who does the new policy effects the most?

It's not entirely clear, but I expect we'll see a set drop time like the current system for COM/NET

It was - but I think that is over now. I'm glad I took advantage of the window of opportunity that was open for a few months after PIR took over the registry from Verisign.

I picked up a number of great .org over the past month.

And, I kept questioning myself. "Why are these names available?" They must not be worth anything!

Now, I am kicking myself that I did not keep buying.

I was doing some simple searches on .org names this morning. And, I typed in a name, thinking that would be a great name to own. To my surprise, I bought it last month.

However, don't think that BD is not also shopping .org's They have picked up some nice ones, too. Like DomainStore.org, etc

Good job Duke and great vision. I looked at your org list located at brandsplus.com. Likely the #-1 .org portfolio! I too have talked about the value of org for a few yrs., always ranking it as one of the top extensions, #-2 as a tld non-cc behind .com (and ahead of net biz & info, depending on the business category to a degree).

It's really surprising so many domainers devalue org so much and missunderstand or downplay its usage and value. In the past I did many posts about that but normally got criticized for it and had to defend my position, that's why I no longer go into any detail on it anymore.

Thanks Actnow and RN. While I was picking them up I didn't know it was only a temporary opportunity that presented itself with the registry changeover from Verisign to PIR. Now that PIR has instituted their own RGP and is likely to follow with a set drop time like com and net, the easy pickings are probably over.

It is true that BuyDomains has been targetting good .orgs. They got several that I had Snaps on. I didn't really realize how lucky I was to get that many good ones until the past week or two when I saw the good drops you could grab by hand have basically disappeared. I will probably get one good one a week at best now - where I was finding 15-20 before.
