If I register a domain for 10 years, what would happen
if I tried to transfer the domain several months later, since that is the maximum registration? Would the transfer to another registrar be denied or would I just lose the transfer fee and not have the one additional year added?

Chances are the new registrar would require at least a year's registration and that would be added onto what you already have.

I've always wondered the same thing. Wouldn't this put it over the 10 year allowed registration period?

You won't get past the 10 year limit but the transfer would still succeed.

I don't see why you would get 10 years somewhere...and then want to transfer it.

Why wouldn't you transfer first and then renew for 10 years?

The reason why I wouldn't transfer first and then renew is
because I'm talking about a new registration.
I wanted to know just in case I'm unhappy with the registrar
after a few months.
