I tried registering some at eurodns but it says :
In order to register a .fr domain, you should provide a organisation contact located in France and a SIREN/SIRET number.
and the administrative contact must be in France.

Any one know something more about this or any other site offering registration without restriction?
or anyone from France willing to help to buy a domain for me?
thanks
Simon

Simon, your contact in France will become the owner of the name, be aware!
Some Registrars provide Trustee Service, though lawyer. But more and more lawyers give up this job doing trustee for typos and trademarks. ;-)
France will become easier this year, it looks like that the registration will be available for private person, this should make it a bit easier. For the moment there is no information available which data the Registry will want from the Registrant. I hope we will be able to post it soon on our newsletter.

Simon, they will be not unrestricted like the .es, as I learned they will be available for registration to private person with a french address. But not to foreign person.
