Hi, I'm starting to add more sites to my sites network.

I don't own a dedicated server or VPS, I'm just using shared hosting and it's fine up to now (the site that has more visits it's hosted in a better hosting with less sites).

The sites are all from a category, but they are not the same.

I was going to add another site in the same hosting I already have (it will have the same IP that one site I already own) and I was thinking if it would be better to host in other hosting.

Do you think will I get any benefit if they have different IP numbers?

I read a lot that from a SEO perspective linking sites from different IPs are better.

Many thanks.

Hi Biggie, yes, I know.

I was referring for link building among sites.

Like I said, sites are in the same category, so they are related. So when I link them, if site B receive a link from site A that is hosted in a different IP, maybe it's better than if they both have same IP.

I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Thank you

Short answer, yes.

Long answer: Different IPs indicate that the relationship between the linked web sites isn't based on ownership.

i use same domain name to host different subjects and different domain names and it's all on same ip.

the main domain is ranked as well as some of the others that point to it.

linking to another site with same ip is also called building a "website"

:)

parked domains can all have same ip for that respective ppc, they can also be ranked in search engines, so i don't see how it can be an issue

but if you're referring to links as in building backlinks, then yeah it's helps when you link to sites with different ips

imo...

Even with IP address diversification, there are plenty of ways for big G to establish ownership links between domains.
Of course, it begins with whois, adsense IDs and so many other details.

Short answer: if you are looking to pass 'juice' to yourself through link building it's going to be more complicated than spreading your sites across different IP ranges.
And for the purpose of link building quality counts too. Low authority websites linking to each other do not contribute much.

Shorter answer: quality websites get backlinks naturally and without asking

Off-topic answer: I would rather own a few clean, dedicated IP addresses just for my own use, rather than share a lot of IP addresses with neighbors you know nothing about, possibly bad neighbors that will bring your IP reputation down :)

In general, I don't disagree, however the way web sites cross-link these days is different. The reason is simple: information is less sticky and more dynamic, changed and shared on social media, using shorteners, messages, facebook etc. The sticky links are intentionally made, for SEO purposes, so those that practice it follow the strict method of non-sharing an IP.
