Looks like it just went down; having trouble too after accessing it shortly before this post.

Later: try it now - seems to be fine again.

Well of course .mobi isn't in the top 50 YET. That will take a while. Other URLs are 'grandfathered' in (bookmarked) and people are still developing and marketing their .mobi domains. I'd be surprised to see one in the top 5,000 right at this time.

I'm not surprised either since mobi was only just released, but I think it raises a few questions nonetheless.

That should be left out of the metrics because Mobi is only half a year old. Driving that much traffic to a new extension in such a short period of time is challenging.

What if we checked the stats on YouTube in May 2005? or MySpace in early 2003?

Patience.

The .mobi fanatics remind me of Saddam Hussein standing in the city square declaring the US soldiers were no where near Baghdad when they were 2 blocks away. A state of fierce perpetual denial.

Fearless, this is not like you? You seem to have spent a lot of time very recently just trolling the .mobi section and bashing everything. Why don't you just not visit these .mobi forums instead of dumping on everything? We all know you don't believe in .mobi already. Useful comment is appreciated, not continuous and gratuitous criticism. Or am I being unreasonable?

You are being inaccurate. There are 100's .mobi threads. I only post in a select few. I'm on a mission to save the noobies that latch on to this .mobi hype thinking this is the way to riches and end up the only ones hurt when the bubble bursts.

I think some believe the mobi fetus should have been aborted even before it had a chance to be born. It wasn't.

Now as in infant, some would like to see it strangled. It won't be.

.com will be okay, .mobi will be okay. I am at a PC at work. I am on web pages built for the PC. When I leave, I get on the cell and perhaps check out a few .mobi sites.

How difficult of a concept is that to grasp?

Two different formats for two different applications.

Here's an idea: Perhaps save the noobs the trouble of logging in and viewing all the negative comments.

Perhaps save them from regging the .asia about to be released. There's a hum dinger!

Maybe I was hoping for a little artistic licence when I used the word "everything". Of course I don't mean it literally. But seriously, the analogy you made above about Iraq isn't constructive comment. If you want to advise noobies to stay clear of .mobi, then why not start a new thread and give a reasoned argument as to your opinion? Hmm... not that there aren't enough threads like that anyway. I don't mean any disrespect here and I have seen some of your other posts in other areas and found them useful.

Been there, tried that...was accused of ulterior motive, although I still don't know what that would be since they never explained it. Lesson learned, people will usually believe what they WANT to believe.

Hi

As a domainer for 9 years, I mostly failed..

They say domaining is still in its "infancy"; I think we all agree that when domaining becomes a mainstream trade awareness.. then the values of all extensions will rise high..

What has held it back? Well, frankly, many people have come to domaining (in particular, the last few years) and have lost their shirts.. um, not good for the business.. it had been a dot com dominated business.. and the mynewcoolsiteclickhere.com's available just weren't worth anything..

So tell me, what should they be buying? (Why be against it @ .commers? Join us - use that .com parking $ to buy a prize aftermarket .mobi and ease your mind)

Why join us?

DotMobi can open the eyes and minds of others in the mainstream to value other extensions; and thus can raise our efforts and domaining out of its "infancy".

What's good for the geese is good for the gander..

Let's all look at the larger picture for the field we so prize..

Domaining..

Kind Regards,

Yelo

just because mobi is in a speculative bubble doesnt mean utter chaos necessarily danielson.. this aint 2001 anymore... lot more people on the internet, a lot more n00bs like me interested in domains these days, i think the market can absorb this bust if it happens.. but watch closely this time around or you might miss it.. things are much more fast paced nowadays.
