This domain was up for appraisal in April 2002.

Let's see if your opinions have changed! :)

if it was .com then it would be worth a lot of money.

.biz you will need to develop it - $500 to $5000

IMO, .BIZ will be roughly 15-20% of a .COM....so, what'd be the valuation of Retail.com? If it'd be roughly $3000 to $30000 then the above figure by Whois is on the mark although I'm not sure if it'd be reasonable to value it with such a wide range; my own estimate would be $5k & upwards. Registry rules re. "per se" sale of a .biz name are somewhat unclear but its better to be on the safe side (especially with a prime name like this one) and develop the name so that it can be sold as a business. Wondering how much development will be considered sufficient for it to be considered a "bona fide" business? Any thoughts on this?

What content would you expect to find from retail.biz? Would an affiliate site, like retails.com be considered as bona-fide?

The name tells it all.

Great name, but will not worth more than 5K

Well thats not how it works out in general in this domain speculation business since for each name like this one most of us would have 10, 20, 50, or more that have a high speculative element and a domain like this one (I won't even call a name like this speculative since its almost certain to fetch a good sum) has to compensate for others so that one can make a profit (or even break even)...just my personal thoughts.
