yeh Preds was but that was before he had a rest from the profit on Thistle.com

the only conspiricy regarding any .mobi's should be the ones that only a handfull of non-teky peeps have found themselves owning.... just by having a company with the same name / TM / IP

It will be interesting to see what he does with this domain.

I'll make an outside prediction and say he flips the domain within a year, but that is just my speculation.

Now that some time has passed it's easier to see how this domain can be used, and how much sense it makes on a mobile.

At the moment, its not even a .mobi compliant...:greenconfused:

www.flowers.mobi

and I have noticed at the bottom of the site....

"Copyright © 2006 Flowers.mobi All Rights Reserved."

With how flowers.mobi has been in the news so much, I wonder how many people are visiting the site on their PCs. Has anyone tried to view it on a mobile? There's been a lot of talk about how .com, .net etc can be made into mobile sites, but the opposite is also true. .mobi can be mobile sites, but if accessed by a PC could redirect to a conventional site. If I was going to develop a mobile website now, I would probably want to use a .mobi, a .com or a .ca (if it was targeted mainly to Canadians). The use of another extension, like .net, .org, .info would be further down my list.

I thought the dot mobi CEO said they would be suspending any mobsite that does not comply with guidelines?

On such a high profile .mobi you would think they would have cooked something up better... unless its one rule for one... :)

well thats news to us... but then again everyone said that the internet would crash and burn in 1989.....

there are only a handful of sites that match the pulling power of Flowers.mobi forget the hype and the riduiculous amount paid for it... it will get traffic as EVERYONE buys flowers... simple generic word with 255,000,000+ in google... you do the maths!

it will get bought by interflora or one of the big corps in holland or japan where flowers are an everyday part of life!

just bookmark this thread and see how right we are in a few years time... :approve:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/09/26/mobi_launches/ has the info quoting the CEO of .mobi

I agree everyone buys flowers - however people will only type it in if they know about it :)

There is a good thread elsewhere that notes that motorola is missing and someone else, which in real terms they have 40-50% of market share of handset makers behind them based on Aug 06 figures (http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33574) .

I dont really see this as scoring points long term as life is too short.

My point still stands, assuming El Reg reporting is correct, will Flowers.mobi be suspended :) ?

we saw that type of news Robert... we meant that lots of CEO's say things and they never happen!

as for your point .mobi Mtld will not suspend any major players sites because without them the name will go the .EU route!!!

as for the knowing about it... you will be suprized what is around the corner as far as mobile / cell advertsing is concerned....

gonna be a blast!

I'm thinking that once .mobi sites start getting advertised and known, people will start to do type in's. As in "hmmmmm..... I wonder what is at candy.mobi, or shoes.mobi, or jokes.mobi"
