Thank you for the input! It is in fact the same size as Eugene, although Salem is the state capital, so I personally put more monetary value in that. Like I mentioned as well, I'm from Salem so maybe it had more personal value when I bought it. I personally think it's worth around 2k - 3k, unless someone really wants it for personal reasons, then maybe a lot more. A rich guy might go to any lengths to be a part of domain like that in is own home town. I am in fact going to develop it, and I didn't buy it to resell. Over the next couple weeks, I'm putting a forum on it, with an Oregon news feed at the top, and maybe a weather feed, fish and game, etc.... Oregonians like that stuff. My girlfriend is starting a business there soon so I could probably use that site to get top search engine rankings on Google for people searching "Salem Oregon", and then funnel some business to her. Now as far as making money off it, not sure how that will be done. My hobby is discussion forums, and dominating the internet for a particular area / subject with that forum. So maybe Oregon will have its first forum for Oregonians, and first modern state site dedicated to providing info. This may become more of a hobby than anything else, but what can I say... I need a hobby and jogging really isn't my thing, lol.
I think when it comes to buying a state capital or city, people want them for personal reasons i.e. they're from that city or reside there. Because of that, the value could be higher for certain individuals. I was in a bidding war for salemoregon.org with only one other person, but it probably had personal meaning to him as well, which is why he bid it up, unless he planned on reselling for a profit. So cities in a lot of cases come out to "personal" value, which drives the price up. Plus, you can market the name for any type of business in that city, so in this case 100,000 different people can make use of it. Just my personal opinion..
sellercunha, I appreciate the input and positive support. Not trying to pick on you too much and accuse you of spam and trying to sell your domains on this thread, but being that you're selling 1pcell.com at the godaddy auction for $100.00, as well as selling zoovr and vrzoo for 2k on Godaddy, well, it is what it is, as we say in America. Like I said, I run /admin forums for a hobby, so things like this are quite apparent and obvious to me, in my world. I suppose bad luck for you in this case. My skills go far beyond being a moderator, trust me. I currently have moderators and have trained hundreds of them. My previous forum I just took down two weeks ago was swineflu.org, and I forwarded to my current forum at avianflutalk.com which has been around for a decade. During the avian flu hype of 2005 - 2006, we were getting 500 posts a day and I had 20+ moderators. Like I said, just bad luck you trying to sell your domains on this thread..
