Was checking out this story on Dnjournal about a new company Leasethis.com that was offering a new way of monetizing your domains by leasing them for you. One of the guys behind this new company is Ammar Kubba COO at TrafficZ.com Is this a new concept or warmed over milk...

Some of you gurus should be able to say if the concept is better than parking....

Leasing is not a new concept...there are also other companies offering the same.

I have just sent an inquiry to them, if they have the contacts and backing then say hello to the world of hacked names in advertising! :smilewinkgrin:

This is just what our industry needed, a good link between domainers with their domains and advertisers and advertising agencies.

Here's hoping they like the samples of mine I sent.

Here are some questions I sent to them :

What are the prerequisites for the domains.eg:

1. How many domains can I send to you to lease at a given time?

2. Does the domain need to have traffic and how much?

3. Who optimizes the domain?

4. Am I paid whether or not the domain makes money for the person who
leases the domain?

Here are their answers:

Thank you for your interest. To answer your questions:

1. As many as you would like. We have a working inventory of 1.2
million
and are always looking for more.

2. Traffic is helpful in pricing. We generally look for domains that
have 30 uniques or more per month.

3. Two possible types of optimization that you are talking about:
-Search Engine Optimization - we work with the advertiser to do this
-Parked Page Optimization - there is no need for this as any unleased
domains are left to monetize with your current parking company. We do
recommend TrafficZ as a great domain parking service.

4. Yes, we collect the lease money at the beginning of the month and
pay
it to you at the end of the month regardless of whether or not the
advertiser has made money.

Yeah it's not a new thing in principle, but this is a big step in this area.
Can only be a good thing. might improve parking rates with ppc companies & it gives us another sword in our armoury.

I'd be more interested to know what protections are built into the contracts to stop the leasee claiming rights over your domain after leasing it for a year or two.
