I got a domain name 3 days ago through enoms' "Club Drop"
The nae was in my account there, I was able to edit the
domain info as well as change the DNS and I have had
a web page up for 2 days now

Today they sent me an email saying Enom did not
get the domain name... guess who "Supposedly" did - BUY DOMAINS

There is something fishy with this crap

I am not going to let this go... they are in for a FIGHT

I once had a .co.uk name there for months, before I realized It was'nt actually there. They had'nt registered it. Just a vaporname. The refunded when I checked with them.

They gave me the name, it was in my account and

Assuming you did have control of the domain for those days, I would not let it go.
No matter what the name is, If you dont want to go with a lawyer afer it, I urge you to share the name here.
This kind of bullying HAS to stop, and it has to stop now.

They probably made a deay behind your back, and sold the name.
Given the idiotic loophole with ICANN, they have 5 days to play around.

This has happened to me.
I ended up paying a BFD price for it....
Dont just leave this situation.
Give it wings. Tell us the name.

Just because a domain appears in your eNom account does not mean you own it. They can put "sex.com" in your account, however you won't be able to manage the DNS in a way that it will reflect at the registry.

Which registrar registered the domain (check whois)?

I bet it isn't an eNom registrar.

I fricken hate Buy Domains, they're a whored out group of greedy money hungry bastards sucking up the good domains of the internet. Sorry, but I believe that is the truth, in my opinion.

Drop services in general are all shady ... one should assume they will occasionally run into problems with some domains. That's just the way the drop business works ...

With all that said, I certainly agree with others here, you should fight for the domain, but don't get sidetracked from other things ... fight for sure, but on the other hand be prepared to let it go unless it's a super great domain and you're prepared to spend big bucks.

The same exact thing happened to me on a $410 domain won on Club Drop and caught by DomainZoo. After a few days, it ended up in BuyDomains account. I'm not sure what happened, but Enom did refund my money and I bit the bullet and paid BuyDomains $3,500 for the domain.

I doubt (or hope) that there is no shady stuff going on...however, it also happened to me on NameWinner, but they dropped it to grab it again on Dotster (which is a common thing from what I hear) and someone scooped it up with a script. Once again, I was refunded my purchase price, but I did not try to buy the domain.

BuyDomains are actually really nice people once you get to know them. I purchased 4 domains (all $3,000+ each) in the last 2 weeks from them and they provided a smooth transfer.

If you're going to fight...I hope you have very, very deep pockets...I bet it's cheaper to just buy the domain like I did.

Sounds horrible, you're probably right, but I'd also agree such "squishiness" is NOT good for anyone (the original drop is traumatic enough). I wonder how many competing registrars have realized that continuing to attempt registration of a name long after it was dropped naturally and caught by a back-order service is a potentially lucrative use of resources if the original catchers try to "move" the domain name between services. Oops.

This is a worrying matter. I believe it happens to a lot of people. I once successfully registered two nice names at a reputed registrar (Biggest enom reseller!). It was sitting there in my account for quite some time as I had no time to develop it. Then, when I really find time to put up a website, I couldn't resolve the dns. That was when I found out that someone had already put up a website for the domains. The names were still in my account! I reported to my registrar. They didn't do anything to help me get back the domains. All they did was refunded my registration fees and purged out the two domains from my account. A week or so after they "settled" my case, the names were re-registered by a new owner. I think there are big bullies out there, but sadly, registrar don't seem to be seriously protecting their small clients. Sometimes, the way things go makes me suspect that there is something fishy going on behind the scene.

Hmmm. I had a domain I won with club drop (or at least I thought I did). The domain never made it to my account. It was caught by DomainZoo and is parked right now. The whois record has ACME Corporation as the owner...would that be Wiley Coyote?

I do a lot of business with buydomains. Even have a great contact there for discounts. Very nice group of people. I guess I would be too with all the awesome domains, and ad revenue they have ;0)

happend with pool once, auction started for a name for 2 days, POOF domain drops by mistake and someone hand reg it from another registrar...

sometimes domains can be deleted in the 5 days range.


is the domain at the same registrar after it went to buydomains ?

because it might be deleted by enom by mistake but buydomains systems kept re-registering the domain after the actual drop time so they got it.

but if it is the same registrar (which i doubt) its really fishy and i doubt enom would do it even if it was A.com and for $1mil

Geesh, maybe Pool's 3 day sealed bid period ain't such a bad thing after all. I always check the updated whois before going in for the kill.

As to phantom names, never happened to me with eNom for the past 4 years I used them. With other registrars, yes many phantom name problems. As a rule, you need to do your DNS change and check the registry whois for every name you buy.
