Question.
I run a successful radio / community network and am branching out. I have two domains to pick from.
One is (withholding domain actual name)
xxxxx.fm
the other is xxxxxfm.com
Would it matter which i used. Its the same name on both. One is just Name .fm the other is NameFM .com

i would have content on xxxxfm.com and forward xxxx.fm to it

maybe also use the xxxx.fm url in print and on-air, to establish the association with the .com

imo...

That is one of my options. But do I want the show pages on.... xxxx.fm/titleofshow.html or xxxxfm.com/titleofshow.html I have been leaning toward the .fm as just the word of mouth / print advertising way, but where is the cut off. I suppose my biggest concern was already starting out behind if the .fm was frowned upon by the search engines compared to a .com. I WAS a big domainer, but my site and 3 babies have kept me at bay the past 5 years.

Do you really need FM either as a suffix or TLD ?
It sounds so 80s to me, especially if you are pure webradio... I think branding is more important than SEO.

Yes in the niche and in radio many people use the fm and am in their domains. Its the nature of the beast.
Some of our shows do gets sent out to terrestrial radio as well.

another option is to use "xxxxradio.com"

but you should be ok either way, as there are plenty of online radio stations using the .fm extension.

imo...
