Has anyone ever had multiple offers on a name for sale at Sedo? I haven't gotten any offers before on this name and now I've got two bidders. The problem is, that I'm waiting on the first bidder to see if he wants my counter-offer. Then, today, I get an additional offer on the name (within a few hours of me making my counter-offer, and coincidently, the second offer is the same price as my counter-offer to the first buyer). Should I not even begin negotiations with the new bidder? Isn't my first counter-offer a binding offer where if the first buyer accepts, then it's a deal?

Does anybody have experience with this? I'd hate to be losing out on a better deal just because the first bidder was "first".

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a "good" problem to have. Take it easy, you have control of the domain. Just concentrate on getting the most you can for it without turning anyone off.

Yes, it's called "timewaster in stereo". Until Sedo forces bidders to provide valid CC information upon placing an offer, the end result can be surprisingly disappointing.

What I don't get is the scenario... here are examples (not the real $$) of the numbers...

sale asking price: $200
bid: $50
my counter: $150
their counter: $100
my counter: $140
and here's where I'm currently waiting....

Now, within a few hours, I get a separate bid for $140. Equal to my latest counter offer. How would that benefit someone? It's equal to what I've lowered my asking price to, and if that really is someone different, I haven't even began to negotiate with them.

Is it just me or would that be a wierd scam. I just can't see how they would make money...

Anybody?

I'll tell you what...

I got a bid from a "serious" buyer (according to Sedo) for $10k.

I accepted.

And waited.

And waited.

70 days later Sedo sent me their contact info.

I decided to do a background check.

The "doctor" was a fraud.

Sedo does not verify contact info. It's a hit or miss.

Personally, I never sell any domain on Sedo for less than $1,500

If a buyer wants to lowball, they bid $60. I counter with AT LEAST $1,500

If they REALLY want a domain, all it takes is a WHOIS.

The way those low-life bidders work is with the first offer they are trying to test out how low you are willing to go and after you lose that opportunity because you are not willing to go that low they know already where your lowest point is and now that they know that, they play on your fear of losing the second bid too, so they might even get it for less than you set your previous minium. Stick to your price by saying you get frequent offers. so in your scenario the bidder is using a fake account first to test out the price, and if he likes it he will buy it with his other account, to me this means you are selling way below value

Anyone placing an offer for a domain via Sedo etc is utilizing their anonymity. If they contact you directly there are plenty of ways to weigh their financial caliber and sell accordingly.

Example:

German company contacted me for a 3-letter .net
After background checks etc. the domain was sold for $11,500

On Sedo, "unknown bidder" contacted me for a 3-letter .net
No way of knowing who they are - I negotiated a sale at $2,500
The buyer ended up being a large casino!

Shows you that bidders will try to get the most for their money. So no need to be intimidated. In fact, if I were you I would cancel both transactions. It's a seller's market.

Sedo is allowing people to set up multiple accounts, and certain persons (2 I have identified to them) are submitting multiple bids on the same name. Sedo said they took care of this last week, yet it happened again TODAY.

Sedo, you're making enemies by supporting this FRAUD.

In the past I've been in support of Sedo. But in the last few months things have kind of gone down hill.

I sent a email last month asking for them to escrow a deal for me and I never got a response. (ended up saving a few hundred bucks )
