Sedo.com responded to my reaction towards their pornographic banner invasion, by removing the text referencing certain adult domain names for their upcoming adult auction.

A day later, Sedo reversed the changes and reinstated the original ad ...

Bob Parsons must have bought Sedo

This is the first time I've seen adult domain related advertising spread around this heavily. I'm cool with porn and all, but this is rather unprofessional.

:approve: Agreed. You got it! It's not about being cool or uncool with porn but trying to stay professional.

He can't do anything even if he wanted to if Ron do not have any
contract with terms in place for ad placements.

DNJournal is only an example. I guess the only thing that can be done would be to remove the ad.

The unofficial response, spoken through Erich at Sedo is that their Marketing department decided on the content of the ad; furthermore alleging that customers in North America and Canada are currently viewing the ad without the porn text.

Now, that either means I'm on some Greek island off the coast of Florida, or that their geolocation database is incorrect.

The explicit version of the ad is being displayed outside the US and somehow I don't believe that this resolves the issue; I am not sure that Europe is exactly this comfortable seeing "porn" domains flashed on their screen, e.g. at a workplace or at a setting where there is no warning. Furthermore, other continents such as Africa and Asia are considered conservative towards such content. In some countries even semi-nudity is not appropriate.

I need some DNF members' feedback about their location and whether they see a full text version (with the domains listed) or a plain one (with just the woman's image).

Just got it to appear after two dozen refreshes. I'm in Poland. I doubt this ad would bother anyone here, there are much worse things on billboards, such as partial nudity. God bless Europe! :D

You actually need accreditation as to whether you're as adept as a dog with a bone. Give it a bloody rest.

One's personal taste is adjusted to their environment; I doubt that you'd be visiting BBC.co.uk and a Page 3 beauty pops up in a banner.

Did you see the text of the "porn" domains as part of the animation?

Dale, do us all a favor and either stop visiting this thread or contribute positively. I am not here for your entertainment.

:) We are in the correct thread now. You talked about choices. You also have a choice to leave us alone......

Here it says "find a hot domain", which covers the women's lower back with a semi transparent layer. All I can see clearly is her shoulders. It honestly reminds of a tasteful lotion ad you would see anywhere in the US.

But... you should be able to remove it if it might affect potential sales, no question there.

Dunce -- exercise your freedom of choice. Getting silly now.

Adjectives like 'explicit' and 'plain' are daft. You have a choice as to where your stuff appears.

:approve: I am exercising my freedom of choice by posting in this thread. My choice is to talk about this. Thank you, Azooza, for reminding me.

You can't tell me I have the freedom of choice and then limit those choices down to two you define. And then tell me, when I don't comply, that I am being a dunce or attack Acro in the way you are.
