I "sold" inmobiliario.mx back in September of 2009 through Sedo.com.

The Sedo representative instructed me to transfer the domain directly to the buyer after my attempts at warning them that I should not do this.

Domain was transferred to the buyer.

I have not gotten any payment.

Today's date is Sunday, January 24, 2010.

Sedo representative will not identify himself / herself.

I will never do business with Sedo again.

How is Sedo supposed to be able to track whether or not I actually transferred the domain?

This smells like a scam.

Once I transfer the domain, the buyer will claim he never received it and demand his funds be returned to him.

If Sedo has no way of tracking the transfer, they will have no choice but to comply.

Then the buyer has both the domain and his funds.

Hi Carlos, for .mx domains we don't take control of them as we are not set up to register them. We only take control of domains where we can then simply push them along to the buyer, which is not possible here.

I'm not surprised, SEDO purchased ParkingPanel.com - and as we all know - ParkingPanel.com stole money from Domainers and never paid them for their parking earnings. SEDO did not reply back to my request on why they purchased a company that is involved in FRAUD!

and your example just shows us all, how SEDO operates.

if you felt that it was risky to conduct the transaction in such as way, then why proceed?

the transfer process for some cctlds has not be established as a "routine" practice, even in domainer to domainer sales on the forums it can be a hassle.

when you include a third party, it can add more delays and frustrations.

one should "talk" out this process beforehand, with their "respective" sedo account managers to insure a smooth transaction.


to go into this with a bad feeling from the "git-go" and then blame sedo....

in the end, i wish all goes well for you

Sedo is as shady as they get. I contacted them about my payment from ParkingPanel to the tune of $3600 that was never paid. First they said it had been over a year and per TOS, expired. I told them that they were never paid. They "investigated" and came back to me saying that my account had been terminated by ParkingPanel for questionable traffic and that I had been advised of this. An absolute 100% fabrication! I asked for proof and now they don't reply. 99% of the revenue was from ONE name that was a pure type in name.

Sedo are crooks as far as I'm concerned.

ParkingPanel.com owner used this fake claim to steal money from everyone.

Thank you for comment. You ask a valid question. Why would I proceed if I am uneasy about the whole ordeal? Because Sedo is supposed to be the professional, established company. They know what they're doing. Should I trust my doctor if he is licensed, registered, and in good standing with the state? The answer is yes, yes I should. The same trust applies to big, established companies. They -should- know what they're doing and how to proceed.

Hhhmm...until a name is placed into a customers account it would still show being at said registrar ( 101domains ), my guess is if the buyer claims he doesnt have it and yet it shows his registrar and your info, is it possible the case is as I mentioned and his registrar has it?

I know they claim they dont but clearly whois says otherwise, so maybe its the buyer..maybe the registrar?

I suppose I can answer that potential with this question, has dns changed at all?

Over all a weird and difficult process at sedo.

but i'll debate the point from a neutral position if i can...

when you throw in a scenerio about trust and professionalism in comparison to a doctor,

where is sedo licensed, or registered...and in what states?

and if they have a license or a registration, what is the license for and what are they registered as?

if i went to a doctor and felt uneasy about his practice, his office, his medical equipment, the sanitary conditions, how he/she addressed me, or his/her prognosis, etc. i can choose to walk away and not let that doctor perform a transfusion, transplant or in this case...the transaction. :)

sure, somebody dropped the ball...but who?


from reading the posted correspondence, i'm wondering why or did you ever contact sedo reps by phone?

also, if there had been a previous verification of whois prior to transfer, any change of whois after, could have been the stipulation to release funds to you.

one other point, "even though sedo doesn't share buyers info", the contact at sedo could have called/contacted the buyer for you.

maybe you just had an experienced employee handling your transaction.

I wander what is sedo part overall in every domain auction? Do they just get the money without doing the escrow amking the client to do most of the part?
Its clear that original owner got screwed by sedo since he was asked to transfer domain directly to buyer while SEDO got the money from him.
Then he is told that something went wrong and he needs to investigate himself, what on earth will SEDO do except from loosing domain and money?

Steve Opadeji "left" and now what? Maybe he took all the correspondence with him along with passwords and email accounts so the new rep cant do anything, maybe its better from now on to sell domain in open public auctions and send money to each other with mail pigeons.

If I was the original owner i d think that buyer was Steve Opadeji and got the domain before he "left". But i m not :D
