Hello Mr. Laws - I'm working with Senator **** Exploratory
Committee and we would like to discuss the *****.*** domain name
with you at your earliest convenience. Please give me a call at
******** as soon as possible to discuss the domain name.

Sincerely,
Mark *****

**********
*******

What should I do? Currently its at a parked page. I wouldn't mind selling but how much? Speculation shows that this person is a likely presidential candidate to run in 2008, and has a likely chance to win.

Thanks

I looked him up and found this on a website

"******** (R) is a vice president at the ****** firm Campaign Solutions, which specializes in online political consulting and fund raising. He currently manages the online campaign for **** for ******, the likely Republican gubernatorial nominee in 2005. A leader in the burgeoning field of online campaigning, *** has designed Web sites, online videos and online fund raising campaigns.

"He worked for Bush-Cheney 2004, the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee. He co-directed the Republican National Convention’s Web site, and managed the Pollie-award winning campaign Web sites for U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., Gov. George Pataki, R-N.Y. and Gov. Matt Blunt, R-Mo. ***** has been with Campaign Solutions since 1999. Previously, he was an intern for the National Journal’s Cloakroom Web site.

"****, 24, graduated from George Washington University with special honors in political communications for his senior thesis, 'Campaigns in Cyberspace,' a study of 2001 online campaigns."

Call him up. He's only 24 but well positioned in the political online campaign industry from that quick read. I would bet he knows the market value of names. I hope your domain doesn't include the potential candidates actual name, as then this communication could bring bad news.

Make sure you mention words such as "Mark Foley" and "page sex scandal" while asking for mid-four figures :D

You googled the content, didn't you. :)

Haha that was the first thing I did as well. He seems to know his stuff and probably won't overpay for a domain. I believe he believes in executing lower cost yet effective exploratory campaigns for politicians.

If the name is or contains "MarkSoohoo" (and this is indeed the guy in question) then making such an outrageous offer will probably come back to bite you in the ass...

It was Mr. Soohoo, have you dealt with him before? I asked for $750-$999. He offered me $1K and i accepted.

Escrow in process now, very nice guy to deal with ;)

Wow, I totally misread that. I thought you asked for 750k+ which is why I responded the way I did.

Your request was a reasonable one...and I congratulate you on the sale :)

Nah, anything under $1500 is reasonable. What's he going to do, sue? Contact ICANN for resolution (at a cost of $1500).

People's names are the hardest names to contest for TM's or ownership. Nobody "owns" the rights to "bobsmith.com" and it's hard to argue more descriptive names even. I'm no lawyer, so don't take this as legal advice. Just talking from experience. I've sold a handful of full name domains from $500 - $1500 without any fallout.

I think $1k was a gift. But probably a smart one as you could have been left with nothing.
