closed Sexual.com domain name

hi guys,

i recent purchased this domain name. i had to pay quite a bit for it, so i dont know if i overpaid or got a good deal. What do you guys think this domain is worth? Keep in mind I dont know the current traffic stats, its only been in my account a couple of hours.

From my point of view, very tricky word.
Yes, it is one word, attractive, catchy.
However, I am afraid the current market value is not as one should expect at the first sight.
I don't know how much you paid for that, but 5K-7,5K would be the top.

overture claims sexual.com gets hit about 825 times a month ..

check your logs and discount all search engines traffic, links etc...

825 times a month and that SHOULD be mostly uniques...


about 30 a day from people just typing in sexual.com .. that is possible..and not that big a deal..

how much traffic does it get..uniques not hits...? 150? 500 ? 1000 ? thats where your answer is..

Difficult to know what sort of site to put on it. The current trend is towards niche sites as the net is awash with free pictures. You could put some sort of index on there but names like slutindex.com were available just for the reg fee last time I looked. I think you best best would be to use it with some subdomains. bi.sexual.com and hetero.sexual.com would be obvious starters. See how that goes and check the traffic and sources and then you can take a view.

That is very nice number. It is very difficult to determine traffic
from user's mistaken type-ins into a search field, but 825
times is very respectable number.
E.g. business.com had only 3929 Overture type-ins.

On the other side Marketleap results are terrible:

825 per month is nothing for an adult site. Sounds as if it will need at least 50k per DAY of reasonable traffic to get a reasonable return.

i would prefer not to discuss what i paid for it, but it didn't come cheap. however, i've had some interest expressed in it, and hopefully will find a buyer once i know the traffic stats.

Don't forget you're going to have to work or pay someone to keep it alive and probably buy some traffic as well. If the traffic is low quality you may not convert 1:10,000 hits. There is going to be a bit of bandwidth to pay for as well.

I was trying to indicate that to get a decent ROI you would need to turn it into a business and would need a fair chunk of traffic to do this. I also think it's a difficult name to use and will need a bit of branding.

I sem to be wrong about a lot of things on the net, so I hope you get lucky with it. I still think the best thing to do is to set up a load of sub-domains though.

Looks as if it was a pay site and I assume you didn't get the content and licenses with the name. Might be worth getting a simple site up and running fairly quickly.
