Let's say this company use domain name
BusinessHelperGlobalUnit dot com (NOT real name).

This company is multi-billion dollar corporation, it seems.

I have domain BHGU dot com (NOT real name).

What would happen if I approach potential buyer?
Is it bad idea to contact them?

I don't think there would be much problem with contacting them.

I had a domain with TM in it. They would like me to transfer domain. I said yes but there was some expenses and they agreed to pay me $200 for this.

If I put the name here, I doubt it will get over $100.

For your case, your LLLL.com isn't worth a lot and no serious problem contacting them, IMO.

How do you know my LLLL.com isn't worth a lot?
I never mentioned actual domain name :?:

I thought LLLL.com you mentioned is yours. If you think your LLLL is more xxxx then you might want to think twice.

I seem to remember there was a problem with 3- or 4-letter domains that matched a company's stock symbol for publicly traded entities. I don't recall the details but if your acronym is their symbol ...

1. Check they don't have a TM on the LLLL string.
2. Check they don't use the LLLL string as a common abreviation of their name.
3. Check the history on your name - has it ever belonged to the company or been involved in any dispute.
4. If all the above is clear, make sure the name isn't parked and displaying any ads for this company.
5. Contact them.

These are just the things that I would consider - no doubt there are other things you can employ to cover yourself.

It's not their stock symbol :)

1. Check they don't have a TM on the LLLL string.
No known TM
2. Check they don't use the LLLL string as a common abreviation of their name.
Ah, this is problem.
They use LLLL as part of their various form names like LLLL - ######.
People call them as LLLL since their company name is very long.
I am guessing this is Good And Bad.
Good since they are already known as LLLL, so, they may have great interest in my domain name.
Bad since they may be able to argue they already use that term and possible UDRP reason?

3. Check the history on your name - has it ever belonged to the company or been involved in any dispute.
Not that I know of.
4. If all the above is clear, make sure the name isn't parked and displaying any ads for this company.
It was parked until last night.
But, no ads that relate to them.

5. Contact them.

These are just the things that I would consider - no doubt there are other things you can employ to cover yourself.
So, based on my answers above, would I have any issue if I contact them?

Going off your answers at 2. and 3. - I'd refer to a legal expert before contacting them. Maybe a legal pro could put a proposition to them that would not predjudice your position.
