Someone listed item "COLUMBIA SPACE SHUTTLE DEBRIS" on ebay, with starting bid $10,000. Ebay admin. deleted the item.

Ebay search brings 1005 items for "shuttle columbia".
21 pages of items are "newly listed".

Well of course, it goes without saying that buzzards will roam ebay at times like this.

I would not buy a newly made item that was clearly put on sale to profit on the misery caused by the tragic accident.

I wonder if 'low life' DomainAddict will sell T-Shirts making fun of this - like he does for the WTC tragedy.

Selling the debris - that's hindering a Federal investigation. Isn't that a punishable offence under law?

Ed - here in Texas the authorities announced that they will be pursuing everybody they find. That stuff has been classified as 'evidence' in the investigation - and they say if found guilty - the people face up to 10 years in prison.

Considering that our local news caught a lot of them on tape pulling over to the side of road - and grabbing stuff - they should be able to identify and round up many of them pretty easily. Lets hope so!

I bet the FBI are going through Ebay's database as we speak - if not they should be.
Some people are not only low, they are also incredibly stupid.

Oh yeah man - the hospitals down here have already had a few people that took the stuff - and then came in freaking out because they saw news reports saying it was toxic. The great thing is - that one report said that FBI & Police Officials were waiting for them after they got released from the hospital.

You gotta love it! :)

I did see a few resonable auctions on there as well, or at least sound reasonable you never know once they get their money. But there was a patch for sale that was up to like $4,000. They said in the auction description they were going to donate all the procedes to funds in the names of those lost. The idea is good, but like i said who knows what they will really do with the money.
