I am looking to purchase a sports related name that is similar to those to names so i want to use them as my example. I repeat.. these are not the domains.. but same scenario.

1
Would Snowboarding.com be open to TM or other legal problems? Or is it too generic for any company to try to claim any legal issues?

2
Would Subdomains of the name like www.Extreme.Snowboarding.com , www.Tahoe.Snowboarding.com, or www.Burton.Snowboarding.com be worth anything to set up as seperate domains? As far as keywords would they been seen in SEO the same as say TahoeSnowboarding.com for value?

3
I cannot give the name out but what would you roughly apprasie a name like this for.. maybe it could be likened with Hanggliding.com or Skydiving.com as far as about equal.

4 I plan to hang onto this domain and maybe do some development and or lease the name out. Are these type of names a good longterm investment?

those examples are pretty generic, if it's a term used by lots of people, then should be ok. subdomains seem to work pretty good for SEO, but I'm no expert.

the examples are also good long term investments, if it's a name that is the exact category of the sport/activity, it should also be good long term.

as far as seo - you want to keep everything on the same domain. If your site is about snowboarding , it will naturally rank better for all the sub terms. If you spread it out onto many domains it becomes a pain in the neck, and you have a harder time getting trusted by google etc.
