I've owned the domain name SnakeCharmer.com for about 11 years. I've used it for my web services company (from approximately 2001-2010), and then as a site to promote my writing and various websites. So, it's not a high-traffic domain based on its current usage. I'm changing careers and looking to sell my beloved domain name.

Any input on valuation would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

It depends on how much of a charmer you really are.

I like the name but I think I like "Snake charming" better.

It seems the dot org is a Rock Band from the UK, Have they inquired about the name that you know of? If I was the owner of the band or had the same business name, I'd be tempted to dole out in upwards of $5K-$8K for the dot com, it really depends on how much of a online presence I want. But waiting for end users can sometimes take an eternity, you can help shorten that time by putting up a For Sale page, keeping the re-direct header you have now.

Appealing to resellers and considering the traffic it receives, I think you'd be lucky to get anything beyond $1000, and that's being generous.

On another note, I'm not a very good writer and when I create a site I'm always looking for someone to take what I wrote and improve on it.. If this is something you do, please send me a PM OK?.

And I wish you the best of luck with your sale :)

Thanks for the input. I've contacted Snake Charmer's management, who replied that they'll put it on the agenda for their next meeting. I didn't name a price in the initial email. Anyone with advice as to how I should approach negotiations? Should I require that they make me an offer first?

Or, does anyone have a different opinion on the valuation?

I really appreciate the assistance. I'm emotionally attached to this domain that I've used daily for many years, and I absolutely need the objective advice.

Oh, and dcristo ... if charm factored into the valuation process, I'd be sure to get $1.50.
