They are performing pretty poorly with 15 registrars. Imagine what they will be like when they are down to 10...or 5!

That's the thing that is baffling me. With 15 registrars they should still be catchng a lot more than they are and not getting beaten routinely on $8 bids at NW, especially on .orgs. I am rooting for them to get back in the game.

I understand that the principal figure at Pool came from SnapNames. Interesting that he is picking off a lot of Snaps' registrars. I'm surprised they didn't have him under some kind of standard non-compete clause as he would have been able to pick up invaluable inside information while he was working for Snap.

Duke, it is normal SOP to have key executives under a "non-compete clause". However, that is not enforcible in all U.S. states. Because, of the right to work laws.

Plus, if they fired him (which I don't know) then that has an effect on his employment contract and possible non compete clause.

If you look at which registrars were picking up the names 3 months ago. Then, you can see why they are not getting a lot of the snaps. The ones left are the weaker ones.

Maybe, their systems are not uptodate?

I thought SnapNames strength came from drop catching software they developed, then hired registrars to run for them. All of the registrars should have equally fast direct connections to the registry, so if they are all running Snaps' software there shouldn't be much difference from one registrar to the next. I'm wondering if Pool has leapfrogged their dropcatching software. This shuffling among the leading catchers has been going on for a long time but this is the first time Snap has fallen out of the top spot.

Duke even though we design custom software to integrate with the registrars platforms because of the coding differences from platform to platform there will be some difference in the overall success ratios.
