Hi Guys, I'm new here so forgive me if I'm totaly out of touch :)

Just got an email from snapnames saying they're moving to an auction model (only surprise is that they've left it this late)

To SnapNames Customers:
Over the course of the past year, the domain name marketplace has changed dramatically. Accordingly, SnapNames has elected to update the way we capture deleting domain names and make them available to you. These changes will help us build and maintain the most effective back-order service in the market today.

Effective immediately:

New back-orders are free. You pay a success fee only if we successfully acquire a domain name for you.
In the event of multiple back-orders for the same domain name, we'll conduct a short auction, and the winning bidder will be awarded the name.
Other important information:
Customers with existing SnapBack® subscriptions will, of course, receive credit for their unfulfilled subscriptions. You have up to twelve months to use this credit.
Any existing SnapBack subscriptions (or unassigned credits) can be found in your SnapFolioTM. Simply log in to your account to review your open subscriptions.
For more information, please see our FAQ section.

It is also important that you log in as soon as possible to initialize your account. When you do, you'll be asked to create a bid alias for use in the event of an auction. For maximum security, be sure you choose a bid alias different from your account user name.

Please note, as we update our site, there may be periods when our services are temporarily unavailable. We will keep these as short and infrequent as possible.

SnapNames is happy to assist you in any way possible. Our support team is available for your questions. You can reach them:

On the web: http://snapnames.custhelp.com
By e-mail: [email protected]

We look forward to continuing to serve you.

This was bound to happen. Too late on the bandwagon IMHO. If they want to have a real go at it they have to increase their registrar partnerships. Simply changing to a pool oriented model doesn't change their less than stellar name catching record as of late.....From innovators to copy cats... The WLS is truly dead.
