hello all.. please share how you discovered the domain business... what keeps you going and motivated?! are you making more money this days or just the opposite... do you do this full time... plan to? ....this should be interesting!

I came into this game because of the launch of new namespace. I thought, gee, I could finally build huge perfect sets in the .INFO and .BIZ namespace to define categories with very little money which I did achieve. Domains are a hobby for me, and I earn zero dollars on my collection. I am waiting for semantic web technology to reach a workable mass before I do anything. I can afford to wait.

Main biz is promoting casinos/poker. I started collecting names to develop but it got a bit out of hand, after nearly 2 years I had about 200 names so I thought I better drop by a big domain forum and see what was going on in the domain areana.

Started parking them and earned $500 the first month with no obvious drop in my normal affilite earnings (they were being directed to my other sites) so I started to look at buying some good traffic domains.

6 months later I've got nearly 1400 domains and my ppc earnings have just overtaken my normal biz earnings :)

I don't do this full time, I do it about 1/3 of the time, with the other 2/3's being used to do my casino/poker promotional sites and playing poker - great life :-)

I too got into the game looking for domains to develop, and then it just took off from there. I'm actually looking to liquidate most of my domains now - I've kept a few of the ones I really plan to develop aside (a couple of them are in the works now).

I'm sure I'll be in the game for a while, but at the moment I don't have the funds to invest in good traffic domains.

I'm a student, so this is a part time gig for me. It started with one automotive website (you more experienced members will know what I'm talking about) and just went from there.

I'm doing this because I enjoy it and it brings home the bacon - so to speak, even though I am not in need of the cash, its always good to be able to do all the fun things you want without having to worry about your monetary situation.

I started out as a web designer/developer, really just doing contract work and the occasional site for myself. I never really got into the domain game (catching and reselling) but I understand the importance of a good domain for web business and thats why I'm still here ;)

I am not 100% sure. I guess a natural progression of my entrepenuerial spirit and my love for the internet. I am just good at making money and especially with sales.
