I have just purchased a new "Solar" domain

SolarGroup.com

I think its a great name for a new solar company and the phrase "Solar Group" returns 1,720,000 results in Google.

A few companies on the first few pages of Google with the words "SolarGroup" in their name as well

TheSolarGroup.com
GreenSolarGroup.com
NorthernRiversSolarGroup.com.au
NationalSolarGroup.com.au
SolarGroup.com.au
PatriotSolarGroup.com
NorthwestSolarGroup.org
WKSolarGroup.com
RossSolarGroup.com
SkySolarGroup.com
AMPSolarGroup.com
SuccessSolarGroup.org
CanadaSolarGroup.com
BlandSolarGroup.com
EuroSolarGroup.com
CarolinaSolarGroup.com
BlueskySolarGroup.com
TGISolarGroup.com
SavingEnergySolarGroup.com
SunshineSolarGroup.com
SLG.co.nz

Any comments are really appreciated

Thanks all

i actually think this is a strong name
not much use to a domainer unless they try to flip

as you have pointed out lots of companies using longer versions of the name, and they SHOULD all want to buy the name
develop, try to rank first page google, just a holding page and couple pages about solar power and i think you should try to get nearer the 10k mark from an enduser

It's a solid name. Reseller I'd say $1,100 minimum End user I'd have a $5,800 to $9K asking price. That's just me. Energy is big business.

That's a nice name. I'm usually in if there are just 3 or 4 stable companies with the name. With something like 20 companies, one will almost certainly make an approach. I would expect around 3k, but maybe Pred is right. Put up a small but viable looking website with ranking, and you may get much more.

Those names were just off the first 3 pages or so in Google

I also notice some developed sites with exact words but in various extensions/cctld's

SolarGroup.it
SolarGroup.de
SolarGroup.nl
SolarGroup.org
SolarGroup.org.uk
SolarGroup.co.nz
SolarGroup.ir
SolarGroup.gr
SolarGroup.hu
SolarGroup.sk

I hope you get the 5 figure sale you are after...you may want to take the development advice route...I think that will help.

This is the appraisal section. If you want to make an offer then send a PM to the op. Read the rules again about thread hijacking.

most domain names are not much use to a domainer, unless they develop.

In my opinion this is one of those domains that usually changes hands amongst domainers for a few hundred dollars, but has the potential to go way up there if the right end-user shows interest.

Domainer value probably in the mid to high three figures

End-user value (contact initiated by you) probably in the low to mid four figures

End-user value (contact initiated by end-user) probably in the low to mid five figures

If all hell breaks loose in the Middle East and we all end up having to use solar energy for our daily needs for a while then your domain might get to the six figures.

Nice, definitely an end user domain. Cant put a realistic value as it depends on which of the companies listed approaches you. I would let it go mid 6xxx -8xxx very happily.

sorry my head spun when i read this. So basically you have appraised this domain from a range of a few hundred dollars to mid five figures (low xxx-mid xx.xxx) with a "possibility" of 6 figures?

I think this is a tricky name to appraise...I can see a name like this going for low xxx to domainers on the drop. I can see a quick end user sale in the low to mid xxxx. The perfect enduser with the perfect situation - just may be a huge sale. I think that is along the lines of what he was saying. This name is tough to appraise IMO. I would develop it so the only range we would be talking about is xx,xxx and up.

If a company approached her about this domain I think that she should aim for much higher than that, perhaps she can start at mid five figures and then negotiate from there depending on the level of interest, but off course this is just my opinion and is what I would have done if I owned this domain, after all it’s a domain that is comprised of two nice keywords that make it a good choice for any new startup or even already established company that specializes in solar energy.

That’s pretty much what I said, what’s hard to understand about that. :)

Him??? lol

Sorry about that,

You got a good domain here, and I am sure you yourself already know that, that's probably why you bought it in the first place and if it caught your eye it would probably catch someone else's eye too, you just have to be patient for the right end user to cross your way.
