Hello,

See:
http://www.icannwatch.org/article.pl?sid=03/06/19/2112237&mode=nested

which has some news re: WLS. I expect we'll continue to see more anti-WLS action if/when Verisign tries to push their unwanted service down people's throats. Verisign's best move would be to listen to their customers (registrars) and registrants who on a consensus basis rejected WLS, and unilaterally withdraw the proposal, saving face for both themselves and the ICANN Board, lest they face a monumental defeat in a higher venue that would hurt them even more in the long-term.

ICANN continues to refuse to provide the Independent Review Panel, which was formally requested on September 9, 2002:

Certainly 9 months is more than enough time to convene an independent panel.

The Washington Post has picked up the story:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A14022-2003Jun19.html?nav=hptoc_tn

Of course, Mary Hewitt failed to mention that in the public discussions, there was CONSENSUS opposition to it, and that ICANN's Board decision was not reflective of the public discussions. I'm glad to see folks are beginning to notice that ICANN has crossed a line, and that unless they shape up, they will no longer be put in a position to make those poor decisions again.

News.com has now picked up the story too:

http://news.com.com/2100-1028_3-1019438.html

"An ICANN spokeswoman said the wait-list change would not become effective until after an October board meeting in Carthage, Tunisia."

Shortage of toilet paper at Verisign tonight, I bet, as they burn the midnight oil. :)

I am delighted that the Washington state registrars are pressuring Congress.

By bringing it to light, will cause this to be posponed or stopped.

Sorry, Clem.
