Small niche device that will most likely only be produced in very small quantities, like 99 out of 100 kickstarter projects. It will not affect PPC in general at all imho.

Ad blockers have been known to cause more problems than they solve plus PPC companies will just find ways around it - they always do. How will this tell the difference between an ad or a product link in a review? How do they plan to pull embedded ads into YouTube videos?

I wonder if the person who made this realizes how much damage to the internet they could do if this really did take off? If PPC became obsolete and no other alternative was around I would drop 99% of my websites.

There is zero chance this would ever take off so it's pointless worrying about it. I just think Theo likes to use controversial headlines to attract more clickthroughs :)

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"

As long as there are problems to be solved, there will always be people trying to solve them. And there will always be other people with vested interests in the old ways trying to keep them from being solved. I think it is short-sighted to believe that because there is not a good way to block ads today, that it will always be that way.

Plus, it would be a mistake to think the overall population cares that marketers would no longer maintain their sites if PPC were to go away. As long as they can still find free porn, download Breaking Bad and order waffle mix, we won't be missed.

If ever such a product were to gain traction, big G would buy the company out. This is probably their strategy anyway.

Thank you for confirming I'm not the only one with a warped mind :D

I think it's a mistake to think the general population hates PPC ads enough to want to spend more than $100 on a device so they won't get displayed. In fact, I think it's only a tiny portion of internet users that dislike PPC ads. The overwhelming majority would dislike the more intrusive type of ads like popups.

I don't disagree with you. My point was, taking the long view, things will likely be very different in the future. The pro-PPC developers and anti-PPC developers will continue to battle it out for a while and change the landscape in ways we can't yet predict.

If the anti-PPC crowd wins, we should just keep in mind that consumers don't care what happens to internet marketers. They have no investment in us, emotional or otherwise.

I saw that device in a news clip on TV.

Even without such a device, the need for affiliates (like us) to carry the google message (advertising) continually takes a major hit. Google needed these affiliates (advertisers) early on. Google now is a mega-cash cow, cash rich, and no longer needs to fund and pay affiliates (like us) to capture market share and dominate the internet.

In short, google no longer needs us and does not want to pay out anything.

Yes, a HUGE blow to parking, revenue, and adsense dollars.
