If the name is at enom , make sure that the domain does not have a seperate domain access password ( from previous owner )
And may be no harm to change the login pass to your registrar account ( just in case )

It is an unusual one ... but scammers always have tricks & ways ..

The caller might have been a domain thief, trying to see if you would be suspicious or even hand the info over to steal the name.

"Oh, yes, that's my husband's domain, be he's away this week. Sure, I'll give you the password".

Or just seeing if the phone was active, or a fax #, or a voicemail where he could describe to a pawn what's on 'his' answering machine.

Seems very strange.

At least you haven't lost anything from it :)
