Source of traffic to domain ?

How do I find the source of traffic coming to my domain ? I do understand if you host the site you can find that out (w/ webstats, etc) but can you find out the source w/o hosting the domain ?

Is there a program or site I can use to find out the info ?

If the domain has ovt with extension, you can be quite sure that the domain receives type-in traffic.

You may look for back links pointing to the domain.

But the only way to get a comprehensive picture is to host the domain yourself.
