no, you cant buy or reg country names .info
they are reserved by the registry, but aparently they are given to the countries themselves.

spain.info has been advertised on cnn, sky nes, euro news, and various magazines.
IMHO, bringing up awareness for .info

Seeker is right, only countries themselves can ask for their own .info.
When I first heard about this (before the .info release) I thought .info will became very popular quickly as all the country names with the .com’s where owned by private parties and the .info will become the reference for all the country official websites. Apparently not many countries ask for their domain.

www.germany.info - Not so much a tourism orientated site but still a very nice site (operated by the German embassy)

You gotta love .info :)

Well, I picked up "spain".info when it dropped just over a year ago.

Although admittedly not in English.

But then English isn't the national language of Spain anyway, is it?

Are supposedly all language versions of a country reserved for a country, does any one know?

Site said:
I believe only the home language and the english version of the country are reserved.

I guess that would be quite reasonable and practical to implement.

That's for Peru, not Spain. And it's got one of those annoying redirecting splash pages that breaks the browser's back button, making it a pain to get out of the site.
