I bet the seller had no idea who the buyer was. Sucks when that happens.

If the buyer was willing to push it to $80k he had to know something was up, that isnt a reseller price in the least. Its only a steal for them because they are yahoo, no other reason.

That's a Steal no matter who is was. People are selling names too cheap out of desperation, 5 years from now they will all be kicking themselves.

If I own'd OMG.com My first asking price would have been $1,000,000 (and really it's worth more than that) and I'd hold it for ten years of I had to.

The owner was probably broke.

He guess what guys if you never ask big you'll never sell big you can always come down.

Thats the only problem with sedo.com you knever know who the bidder is so your better off giving them a high price and also sending a message saying feel free to make your highest offer .

That is not a steal. That domain isn't really worth 80k.

Yes its a really good price for the domain but if you knew yahoo was after it you would hit them with $300k because its nothing to them and if they really want ti they will pay. I personaly think its only worth $30k

Hell yes it is. If you've got 80k to spend on it, you have plenty more to devote to developing & promoting it. It would take nothing to get the brand going, as it's such a common saying among the younger crowd these days.

I am just happy to see that a company bought it and will perhaps make a site, something that most domainers would not dare to do.

Just because you have millions or billions to spend, does not make the domain name a steal.

Omg.com is definitely not worth 80k in my standards. As chillking has said, 30k, and that is probably tops.

Also, most big companies will NEVER negotiate direct purchases on big domains. They usually use a third-party or a shell company, or in this case - Sedo.

OMG.com really has no end-user value to be honest as a name itself. I'd also put it around 30k. And in the current market, perhaps even less. Sure to Yahoo it is not a lot of money for a domain name they really want. We've witnessed Ask.com buy out a bunch of nearly worthless domains lately for millions. But that doesn't say much about the value of the name. When you have money, you are likely to spend it much easier.

But congrats to both Yahoo and seller.
