WASHINGTON, DC — According to a groundbreaking new study by the Department of Labor, working hard (the act of vigorously engaging in productive activity) may greatly increase the amount of valuable domains accumulated during one's lifetime, especially when compared with the more common practices of sitting on your ass and complaining that hard working Domainers have managed to collect most of the best domains.

"Our findings are astounding: By simply sitting down and doing work, a Domain Investor can dramatically increase their chances of landing good domains," said the Deputy Secretary of Labor, who authored the report. "In fact, 'working hard' may even revolutionize your domain portfolio."

Perhaps even more shocking, the study reveals that not working hard significantly decreases a Domain Investor's chances of landing good domains, sometimes even resulting in no domains being found at all. Similar findings were reported in the areas of avoiding good advice about domaining, putting off working hard, complaining about hard working Domain Investors instead of actually working hard, pretending to be a Domain Investor, and just doing jack squat all day long.

"Doing 'jack squat' all day long is in fact detrimental to the investing process," the study reads in part.

To conduct the study, researchers split the staff of a well known domain name forum into two groups and assigned each group a series of tasks to be completed by the end of the day. The control group engaged in doing normal "jack squat" activities, such as sitting around and web surfing, staring vacantly at the computer screen, and calling friends to complain about their unfair position in life. The other group was instructed to do work hard and complete it's given tasks. Incredibly, the group that did not do any work failed to locate or invest in any decent domains, while the group that did engage in hard work managed to locate and buy decent domains even in today's competitive market.

The researchers even believe that these lessons could possibly be applied to fields outside the domain industry :)

Yes we have to spread our net wide enough to cover all topics(the lists) scan and scan and scan lol. I for one found many good domains and hand registered them. Only thing is patience, if it seems everything you are scanning or manually searching for is gone, don't give up hang on hang on you will find one or more as you continue your quest.

I for one have drop catched many names myself trying hard! we can catch some dropping domains and definitely can have our little share in the pie :D just don't give up!

Poker thank your for the thread, this sure is a booster to move on without losing interest.

was inspired by the recent "raise the price of domains" thread and some past comments about how all the best domains are taken and how it's so unfair...

Good post, Poker. I only visit DNforum in between times of brainstorming, researching, registering and buying domains. Others, here, try to get domains in between DNforum sessions.

It may sound like a simple concept but when I first started back in '04 it took a while to realize that was necessary. Now days, it I wake up in the middle of the nite, I jump right on the computer. It's like a drug. Since I love what I do, to me it's playing hard and not really work. I naught a second laptop to handle my scans and I always have at least 9 tabs open on firefox doing research. I once purchased a name for $14 and same week flipped it for $5,000 and now its a huge site. People hear these stories and think its luck.... sometime it is and sometime it has to do with the effort spent in hours of research.

I've always found hard work to be way overrated. Hard work, IMO, is just way too hard for me. I stick to sleeping and eating. My parking revenue has yet to touch xxx figures though :0
