A few weeks ago I registered a domain for a fan site for a popular FB game. The domain is (game)fanatics.com

I posted it on the site on the forums for the game (in the correct section) - and it was deleted in a few hours by one of the mods (eh, oh well). It's funny how the forums are flooded with people posting to their own sites.

This morning I got an email from someone:

Have you ever visited my site? (domain is (Game)fanatic.com)

You should check your domain name before you purchase it in the future, you wont be getting much traffic for a LONG time, most links will point to my site. Our Alexa ranking is in the low 100,000's while yours is in the millions. Good luck!

In the future we may be interested in purchasing your domain name from you if you decide to pursue the site, I highly recommend changing your domain name though.

Thanks,

Uh-huh. Sorry, my site is already getting 40-75 hits a day (not bad for a site that is only a few weeks old with the only advertising being Diggs, Facebook posts, and that post on the forums).

Plus, telling me to change my name? Um, how about a big yuck fou - and if it's a threat, I don't take well and I highly doubt the company who runs the game would appreciate them making threats over their name.

Also - their Alexa rank is over 300,000 and mine is below a million - again, not bad for a site this new with no $ spent on advertising (plus I don't have a team of people plugging my site wherever I can - it looks like they do).

I've sent a PM to the site's administrator about this (why others are allowed to spam their site yet I'm not allowed to post mine in a relevant topic).
