there was an auction on ebay and the seller canceled all bids and ended the auction with 5 minutes left. The domain was 450.com and th4e high bid was $7.50. I wrote the guy asking what's up with that and he stupidly writes back "because I sold it". What a moron, I reproted him to eBay for fee circumvention. I was salivting over this for the past couple hours... man that irks me.

Sorry, needed to vent.

He has a right to cancel it. Obviously it didn't get as high as he wanted, and he didn't have a reserve in place. Reserve auctions cost more, and scare bidders. Yea, it's annoying, but he had a right to do it. :)

under the ebay user agreement item 5.2, unless it's a non-binding item, the seller is required to sell it.

item 5.2

I know I won't get anywhere, but it's make me feel good. (I just hope that it wasn't anyone in this forum)

Not if he/she cancels before the auction closed. When you close an auction early, ebay gives you the option of "cancelling all bids", or "awarding item to current high bidder".

Hope this helps.
