In the market for a new 1TB external drive, any preference on a brand to go with or stay away from?

Friends don't let friends buy Western Digital. My stack of dead WD drives is a lot higher than the other stacks :)

I prefer Seagate. External sata (eSATA) is nice if you have the controller for it.

Appreciate the input south, my 1st ext. HD was a Seagate (120 GB). I'm not using it right now but its still solid from 4 years ago, so I'm leaning toward going with Seagate. Also heard Maxtor is one to say away from

Maxtor bought seagate a couple of years ago :)
Or they merged, or something like that.

But I still prefer them to WD..
