It appears that large companies are finally starting to realize the benefits of owning a powerful generic domain name and they are ponying up large sums of money to join the elite. Publically traded Citrix Online (CTXS) is the latest member to join the "We get it" club with their recent acquisition of team.com which now redirects to their GoToMeeting product page. They acquired GoToMyPC® in 2003 for 225mm. According to their about us page, their suite of software includes Citrix® GoToMyPC® for easy, secure remote PC access from anywhere; Citrix® GoToAssist™ for live, easy remote support; Citrix® GoToMeeting® for online meetings made easy; and Citrix® GoToWebinar™ the industry’s first do-it-yourself solution for Web events. It looks like team.com is being used to promote GoToMeeting.

This deal comes shortly after another service company joined the club. Salesforce.com's recent acquisition of force.com took a staggering 4 years to complete. Purchase price is unknown but one can only imagine.

This is excellent news for our industry as prices will continue to rise as more and more mainstream companies realize the benefits of owning and branding powerful generic domains. Now if we could only purchase the next team.com before "they do"

Have a great weekend!

Nice Sale for both parties. I noticed they also have OnlineMeetings.com redirecting to their site also. This company does seem to "get it".
