I don’t care if I have to type Overstock.com or O.co or GreatDailyDealsFoundNowhereElse.com
The latter, is available to register.

Seriously though it is very difficult to get people to go anywhere but the .com. A good .com will be most trusted for commercial purposes (.org and .net are up there as well).

IMO it will take a lot to change people's perception. There are some exceptions of course. De.licio.us is one but then again they also own delicious.com. So maybe it's not a great exception.

The point is .com is ingrained in people's heads. To change that mentality you will either have to have a lot of marketing dollars or the internet will have to be restructured completely to not have TLDs any longer.

But what do I know.
