Estimates of how long the pain will last range from a year to a decade... What the world needs now are buyers, and they are nowhere in sight. What do you guys think?

As far as the stock market is concerned, once the masses begin to throw in the towel, the market will turn....not before and not because some fools get on TV and yap about market bottoms (repeatedly). The market usually leads the economy itself by about 6 months...save your bullets, it will be sweet.

In the meantime, buying up stocks in companies that actually DO something, as opposed to pushing paper and figures around... Because their share prices may be going down, but few of them will collapse, and their share prices WILL go back up considerably after all of this.

Government is seriously committed to a restart: I think we'll start to see a thaw within a month and things turning in earnest during the back half of this year.

[My bet is down...]

Business/production = income = food/shelter = growth/investments = equity = quality of life & non-essential items

Less Business = less jobs = less Buyers.

Until people focus on the right problem there can not be an increase in buyers or net buying activity.

Industrial production is the key: tangible items that instill consumer confidence. The market is saturated with service-oriented jobs, a lot of them outsourced.

Yes, it's time for the US to buy American.
