I just checked out their new tool, the Registrant Search. They were pretty accurate. Searched almost 90% of my domains (didn't order the report, just the number. I don't think there can be any other domainer with my name)

Now I'm sure that there are other pieces of software/code that do this, but this tool is out in the public for anyone to use.

I can see some people doing a lot of bad with this. Lawyers, jealous domainers, jealous spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends. Imagine running for the local mayor's office and someone pulls out a report that says ScatPo*n.com belongs to you? Or what if BigFatTitt*es.com is used against the owner in a divorce case? I'm sure most of us don't really want our families to know what all domains we own. The owner of Sex.com will always have the label of "Internet's First Porn Baron" attached to him. Thats not something you would want your kids to know...

And not even talking about the TM names/typos.

Anybody else feel this or am I the only one paranoid?

Lawyers and police officers already had access to this tool before it came public. You think that's scary, just wait until the day it becomes free and all the mashup programs that are born because of it. Google maps perhaps? :p

Also, good time to privatize domains you want private.

Thanks. I agree, the price is unreasonably high without preview or as part of a membership.

We found 473 different domain names with
674 cached whois records that fit your search.

Order this report for $243.00
----------------------------------

Seems like search found 15% of my domains
and it cost about $.50/domain found.

Guys, NSOL allowed this for years before pulling the plug. Any old timers 1995-1997 remember those days?

Whats the point in that? At that price isn't it only going to be used by lawyers digging for dirt?

I'm not sure. But if you input different name formats, say First Name, Last Name; Last Name, First Name, First Name Last Name etc. it pretty much covers all domains. Also, try doing a search using the email address. That works the best for me.

My favorite was when you used to be able to do closed auction searches on eBay by email address instead of user ID, back in the day. I knew more than one private investigator who used it to find undisclosed sources of income or dig dirt on subjects, like they will do now with this tool...
