How can you say dotmobi is overrated and will go down when only a handful of people still only know about it! Don't use this forum as a gauge, look at the people in the world around you... what is dot mobi? They say..
If you ask me, any domain extension (besides com net org), within a considerable time frame, only gets BETTER than currently now because we are all stuck in the dotcom world only psyche of the mainstream masses. That, of course, is changing in our current times we are witnessing. I fathom dot mobi, more than any other extension, will lead the way globally to changing this cultural awareness mentality to "more than dot com" in the internet. Good for domainers as a whole. We have to think and write outside our own domainer pie market here. All virtual real estate property could grow exponentially when the mainstream realizes about registering domain names. That's why they say about our industry that we are still in the "infancy". Thank goodness for those super bowl godaddy commercials hehe. Awareness - because there is so little on domaining and especially dot mobi, it is a good time for us to take advantage of the times with registering before the public places an eye of unquenchable (assuming ICANN holds par) demand on virtual property (1 domain name owner for all 6 billion people, if you recognize anything collectible like jewelry or baseball cards, gold where there can be another owner of the same type, than you see that domains along with their development traffic potential will have an unprecedented strong unique value as a market commodity)
Not until everyone knew what gold was did gold become at its high commodity value. Otherwise it was just a rock. Why have they called domaining the gold rush
Now, they said that in the 90's so why hasn't the public been aware of registering domain names with dotcom era? 1.) Few dotcoms that are nice are left available for regging 2.) The average person does not know how to develop a website (HTML) so the person has not developed the initial interest... This is all changing with blog templates..
So the lesson is don't compare the dot mobi era to come with the dot com history. More and more people are coming to the internet now, not just the 90's where people were ahead of the times. And, 4 to 1 cellphones to computers brings the worlds masses to the freedom online who could not afford a computer for various reasons. Think out of the box, think outside of the West and developed countries to the world's masses who are also our potential customers/members.
Type in google "site:.mobi and youll see many foregin country registrations that are particitpating already in the dot mobi atomic spreading reaction. Remember the internet market changes fast, youtube was only a year and a half old when bought out. So, .mobi can come fast.. anything that is hot.. and of course for those of us dot mobi domainers it's exciting!
Regards,
