The Hand

I'd like to pay tribute to the hand...


without the hand, there would be no place for the thumb to go

without a hand, the thumb might grow on the elbow

without the hand

there'd be no place for a finger

and without the hand

could i still become a ninja?

without the hand

fingers couldn't click the mouse

and tradesmen couldn't build a house

without the hand, fingers couldn't type-in the characters that make up domains

without the hand, could i still sign my name?

without the hand

i couldn't pull the trigger on the glock,

nor could i turn back the hands on a clock

or hold the keys that open the locks, to the doors that i must go thru.

so i must pay tribute to...

i couldn't extend it to you

in signs of friendship,

nor could i put it up

to keep you out my face

or make a fist to knock you out

nor could i raise that fist

in solidarity or against your opinions.
