Some asshole(s) just renewed two names I had NRR's on that were DEFINATELY going to expire next year! Now I have to wait till 2005! F**k 'em! I'll wait! (And they can only do it if the names are registered at NETWORK SOLUTIONS, another bunch of assholes!) :veryangry

Wm, with the proposed procedure under WLS that all expiring owners of domains will be notified that a WLS has been placed. Will cause what your experienced to be the "norm".

The email addresses for both names were no good, the mailing addresses were no good (got first class mail returned) and they both have "LAME DELEGATION" servers! They were both renewed by persons other than the owners, and NSI is the only registrar, as far as I know, that allows this to occur!

I discussed this ages ago. I think it will become a common tactic for people with deep pockets. If it costs a few dollars to keep the domain name out of the hands of the WLS holder until something else comes along in the future or the WLS becomes available, I think it makes business sense.

Kind of makes you wanna transfer the domain anyways if you are lucky enough to hold the admin contact. I mean if someone who is not affiliated with the domain can renew then i would say (even though I would be incorrect) that it's fair game to transfer if you are the admin contact "by circumstance". But in most cases this is not true so it's basically a senario of waiting it out year after year. I would imagine they renewed it till 2005 instead of 2004 in hopes that you could not renew next year and forget thinking you still have time. Wish there was a way to find out who it was. This could go on forever but eventually NSI will change it's policy no doubt.....but you never know.

Hey devildude,

Found an old copy of a "hits" record for hotsex.org for the period Feb. 1st to 15th, 2003. Guess how many in those fifteen days? 11,847!! And it is now my biggest producer at SEDO (which ain't sayin' much!) Just thought I'd update you. And now I also have hot-sex.org!

Is hotsex.kids.us taken or is 000domains.com playing tricks on me?
That would be a nice violation!

I warned about this in the past, but people didn't listen. Your WLS slots are going to profit only Verisign. In a good way, it's great that you're getting this education now, so that you can help in the anti-WLS fight. At least under the status quo, folks have a chance at names. Under WLS, folks who have no other option will simply renew the name to thwart the WLS holder.

I'm still pretty sure that at the vast majority of registrars, the owner has to get into his account, using username, domain name, etc. AND a password, before he/she/they can renew their name! Not so at Network Scumbags, Inc. ANYONE can renew ANY name at ANYTIME! And yes, WLS holders of names registered at NSI will be thwarted again and again.
