I'm throwing this guideline here for clueless newbies.

The QUACK Profile

Q: Quality - What is the overall Quality of the Words?
- Generic or Sentimental?
* Well known words such as Bank, Food, or Wireless?
* Sentimental words such as Monster, or EggHead?
- Easy?
* How many words? 1 is better than 2. avoid more than 3.
* How many syllables? 2 is better than 4.
* How many characters? 5 is better than 10. avoid more than 12.
* Are there dashes and / or numbers to remember?
- Original? Napster.com, Flooz.com.
- Sensible? CarLoans.com, not CarsLoan.
- Inviting Words? FreeGifts.com.

U: Universal - Global, National, Regional, Local, or Cult appeal?

A: Available - Is it protected by Trademark or Copyright?
- Alternatives Use - Other than the Target Market?

C: Com - Commercial, for commerce, to generate revenue?
* In Asia .NET domain names are more popular.
* Although Engineering.ORG sold for almost $200,000.00, non-profit .ORG domain names are valued lower than .COM or .NET.
- Competition - How saturated is the After Market for the Target -Category? Are the other gTLDs available?
- Current - Read the news. Music, Medicine, and WiFi are examples.
- Communal - Will it draw a peer group and repeat traffic. Chat is an example.

K: Keywords - Does it define the website? ex: Savings Bank.

dats it... quack :D

Thanks Duck!

I agree with all that QUACK but one is worded wrong I think:

>> In Asia .NET domain names are more popular.
More popular than DotComs? - Not :)
