Do you think that the value of .coms will creep up over the next few months?

It seems that every day more than twice as many .coms are registered as drop. Given the quality of many of the dropping names (ajtdpptapd.com is in todays liat for example), this must mean that the available pool must be shrinking.

I'm asking this question as I think that the shakeout over the last few years may be coming to an end. The newTLDs are helping to increase web awareness and I believe that this also increases demand as owners look for "international" domains to support their current sites.

Is this the correct forum for a general enquiry like this - mods, please move it if you think it would be better elsewhere.

The future is always something to ponder about DomainPairs. I believe that drops are primarily a lagging indicator. I would look to SEDO sales data as a concurrent domain economic indicator. As far as some sort of crystal ball for 6 months from now, my gut is that it is the NASDAQ. That means if the NASDAQ tech indicator climbs in the first quarter of 03, look for domain pricing increases in quarter two of 03. Everything looks generally FLAT +-10% for now. So, don’t look to for a triple digit increase in first quarter of 03. But all that can change as-quick as a stock bid or weapon inspector can change it.

I hope your domain future is bright.

I think .us will be the second most popular Tld, In the United States without a doubt! many companies who lost out on good fitting .com's will and are gobbling this newer Tld. up! Truly a patriotic Tld.

I am sure you are right, but for many years we wrote u/s on broken items that were destined to be thrown away - it used to be a short form for useless. I haven't seen this recently but I haven't been inside a factory for a few years now.

I still believe that any international company will need to have a dot com, and the country specific domains will really only be useful for local trade.

I hope paypal have bought paypal.us and will soon give up their attempts to establish a reputable international business.
