LastingPhotos (com)

Its currently parked and it gets traffic its been parked for few years now and traffic still comes in so I think its safe to say I have to build it :)...

Since there is Flicker and other photo sites ... Im just wondering what could I build I was thinking in the lines of Flicker but to have people monitor and approve photos only top top notch photos to be posted in some sort of a gallery..

Cheers

Photos that will stand the test of time. Like some of the photos in Life magazine. :)

You could build an online compilation of visitor contributed photos and images, then invite visitors to write a short piece (150 words or so) about how they felt or what they were thinking when they viewed a photo. Everyone can leave a comment but having to write a short piece would definitely separate a site like this from Flickr and co. The photos would have to be poignant in order to encourage visitor/user participation. If all goes well, every quarter or mid-year you can realease a publication with photos and short pieces of your contributors. Sort of a photo-by and piece-by type of magazine. People are always ecstatic when their stuff gets published. Imagine a publication called Lasting Photos.

It works. At least for me :)

Hard to say if there is broad applications for this name.

Start out with your own, family, and friends photos.
