Only you can answer that, knowing the value of the domain (and name ;)) & what it's worth to you, and what cost etc.

You seem to be doing ok thus far though

Mind sharing what email you sent? censored where necessary of course :-#:

NURCA, you ask for advice on how to write end user letter and yet advertise this service in your signature?
Anyone else notices the contradiction here? :D

As for the question, I would just give him a high price, then let him make a counter offer and after that name the lowest price I'd sell for to close the deal.. Not sure if that's the optimal way, but works for me :)

They sound interested. If it's something like burritos.org or similiar, I'd start out at say, 2.5k and let them counter. But hey, that's just me.

I actually think you shouldn't state the price in first email.
Get them interested first, then name a range. Or let them make the first offer.

Also make sure you mention the benefits they'd get from using the domain for their biz, like shorter name, easy to remember etc.

here's a good example

The guy has a sandwich shop. He opts for an .ORG, thinking it'd be the cheapest of the com/net/org triad. Sometimes that's the case, sometimes it's not.

What I do is skip the email and call the guy directly. That's where the skillz show through ;)

Thanks for link Michael. Nice and simple.
I have tried different approaches. Some too simplistic, some over complicated.
I'll try this. Enduser sales are what we need more of.
cheers

It all depend on who your buyer is.
How much can they afford?
How bad do they want it?
How internet savvy?

I almost never sell to reseller.
Except one time here I started auction at $1
and ended up selling for $1:lol:

99.99% of time, I sell to enduser.
Some domains - I would be happy with $200 and
end up getting $15K for it just because I asked.
I can not say domain name because of NDA, but, this buyer
had .net .org .us versions and I had .com :D
Domain was earning less than $1/day parking.

Some domains worth easily over $xx,xxx to end user,
but, never get response when I counter with mid $x,xxx

Finding out most about buyer is very important.
Just past 7 days, I lost 8 potential buyers because
I pushed little too high :(

If I sold all 8 domains at their highest offer, I would
of have little over 10K :(

Without knowing buyer, you can not counter offer successfully.
But, it's not so easy since most buyer use gmail, yahoo or hotmail address.

I try to send out 70 emails a day, period for one domain a day. I go to Google each day and type in the term I own and look for all sponsors or variants of similar names I own. I do this all day, I bookmark where I left off at Google until I resume selling that particular name. I usually get 6-8 responses, such as this one I just received..

"Nurca,

Hi! xxxxxxxxxxx.com would be worth something to us as a top level
domain.
xxxxxxxxx.org, not so much. We can offer you $300 for this name if you're interested in that price. You're probably better off selling this name elsewhere.

Bob

Thank you for the game plan. Nice & easy.

Now all that's needed is the time & effort. (The hard parts.)
But you show it can be done. Thanks.
