DNJournal this week reports the sale of Travel.info for $116,000. However perhaps of more important note is the sale of NewYork.info for $70,000. This is the third time in as many years it has changed hands.

2004 NewYork.info sold for $28,086

2006 NewYork.info sells for $46,392

Almost exactly a year later in

2007 NewYork.info sells for $70,000

The figures represent an increase of 50% in value between 2006 and 2007, and a total increase of a wacking 149% between 2004 and 2007. But even this may be a 'reseller price' rather than an end-user price!

This fantastic rate of growth over the past 3 years would indicate a growing market for the .info suffix, something that has been forecast since the suffixes introduction but as yet has failed to substantially materialize. It should be remembered though that if NewYork.com came onto the market it would almost certainly command a 7 figure price, however, would it show 50%per annum growth rate to match the .info performance?

...............
Mods if this is in the wrong section then could you please move it. Many thanks. BillBo

I knew some one would say that, but that would depend on how much you paid for the .com.

Lets say you thought the .com was a great investment, and you paid 200k for it then could only sell it for 215k. You made a cool 15k, but you would of made a cool 23+k on the .info. Meaning the .info would of been the better investment for you.

The fact is that .coms are worth more, but they are selling close to their worth most times. Buying them can be great investments of course, if you can find them under valued. Now .info, .net and .orgs are easy to get under valued lots of times. So it really all depends on how much you pay, and how much you can sell for.

In todays domain after market, you can not limit your self to any thing. Or you may well lose out, on some great investments that is for sure. I've noticed many thedomain.com and xxxxdomain.com, on TV ads so buyers may be more willing to buy stuff other then .coms. You could make some good money, and they could save lots off the .com.
