NameFox seems to be really good at catching drop names.
They've gotten a bunch of pure three letter dot coms, and excellent single word domains, such as analyst.com.

My question is this: does NameFox only catch domains for himself, or does he offer this service to others as well? Have any of you actually gotten a name through his service? Is it pricey?

My concern is that the whois information in all of the NameFox domains (except for the three that are listed on his site) are absolutely identical. For example:

Domain Name: LAUNCHES.COM
Registrar: INNERWISE, INC. D/B/A ITSYOURDOMAIN.COM
Whois Server: whois.itsyourdomain.com
Referral URL: http://www.itsyourdomain.com
Name Server: No nameserver
Updated Date: 02-sep-2002
Registrant:
Compana
PO Box 111501
Carrollton, TX 75011
US

This suggests to me (or at least worries me) that NameFox only gets names for himself, and not for others. I would be especially worried if NameFox gets a name suggested by someone else, and then refuses to sell it to him.

I have used Namefox and can say that Jeff is a man of integrity. If he has grabbed a name for a client, this will be reflected in the whois in due course.

I have also only seen the same conatc information! I have never seen that the conact info changed to another? I once emailed them a name videocasinos.com and sayd that I would pay $25 for it, then they one day wrote me and sayd that they got the name, but the price is $75?

OK, here's an example: restricted.com shows GeorgeK as the registrant, which is quite different to the above whois info.

With videocasinos.com, I enquired about this name also and as I understand the top bid at drop time was $75, but the person flaked and didn't pay up.

Ok maybe yes. But I didn`t make a bid of $75 for it! They asked me this price!
And that would be a lot easyer, when they had auction site. You have to email them and then they simply say, that someone had a bid on it and so on!

The four NameFox domains that have different whois information are listed @ NameFox.com as recent grabs:

findwho.com
restricted.com
amulets.com
Giornali.com

Are there other domains with different whois information (that would reveal a domain transfer)?

As far as I can see, each of those four names above has been transferred as NameFox doesn't use the registrars that the names now reside with.

Since we are not an ICANN registrar and can't keep blank whois information, we use our own information as a "place holder" until the customer's payment clears. Once we receive payment, we update the whois.

We are not perfect, but everyone that pays for a name gets their name.

Stuff, I explained in my email to you on Mon, 20 May 2002 7:12:47pm that our minimum registion fee is $75 (look in your inbox for the email). You replied that this was too much for the name.

Our registration cost are higher than $25, and we can't register names for less than our cost. There are other services like namewinner that can do this. For names under $75, you should use their services.

I am just curious, how much You most pay for one year registration? I have offered to some registars, that they let me also run a script and for each sucessful registartion I would pay $30, but no answer??

Namefox has successfully obtained 4 or 5 names for us. Their success percentage has been high thus far, probably only 3 that we submitted and didn't get.
