I'm looking at the ename.cn marketplace right now, and a lot of domains are marked up pretty heavily, especially one-word English generics. I was in Shanghai, this summer, and that's exactly how it was on the streets of capitalist China - us "foreigners" always end up forking over more than we should.
For your Joe Domainer, I think .com/.cn IDN's are a more realistic investment in terms of price, ROI and widespread use. Right now, I'm trying to get in on the action but even still, I'll have to play it sneaky - any fault in my ABC Chinese and the seller might suddenly default to "reseller-foreigner" pricing aka end user!
What are your thoughts on the .cn aftermarket?
