bedfashion.com
londonecom.com
sarapes.com for those that don't know, a sarape is IMHO a mexican version of a pull over sweat shirt. Please correct me if I am wrong.

General guidelines
1) No hyphens
2) No numbers
3) Two words only
4) Should make sense
5) Address a huge market / strong niche market
6) use present tense
7) use verbs / adjectives/ nouns only
8) search marketleap, alexa , overture, google ratings
9) search for occurance of the word
10) see if other extensions are taken
11) trademarks

so on

deleted domains list - think about it, some one else let them expire first :)

I can only add - look for link popularity, many sites do expire.

We have a 7 letter .com that describes and article of clothing that people can buy? And it has "no value" I don't think so.

The name has uses both in Mexico and outside as a generic. By the way sarapes.com.mx is taken. Also the Internet in Mexico still has a way to go.

For an end user in Mexico I say 10,000 Mexican Pesos and I am taking a guess. You will have to market it in Mexico. A speculator about 10% if they know Spanish. If you wait for the Internet to develop in Mexico you can do a lot better.

If you want to convert the Mexican Peso to another currency I suggest

There are two categories of deleted domains, IMO.

1) Good names that someone just couldn't afford to keep or had no time to develop and market, and

2) Total junk that were registered by choosing letters from the keyboard at random, it seems.

Most deleted domains I see go through the gutter daily fall under the latter category, unfortunately. It's the world's largest hall of shame.

But I think KC Slim is doing a good job in finding puppies from the first cluster. BedFashion.com is an example of a good pick. It is both conservative and could have a sexual connotation if required. One could market it to Victoria's Secret or to the Sunset Nightgown Experts of Cleveland OH. It's just bad times for the dotcom.

Thanks Ipatlas, I saw the name darkvideos.com yesterday, but decided to pass on it. Yesterday for some reason seemed to have some better deleted names.

What on surface looks like a 'commercially viable' name is often nothing more than wishful thinking.

I think the obsession with dropped names is nothing more than a logic defying addiction.

I think there are unrecognized gems on Deleted Domains, but probably less than one percent of one percent. I have found at least one that I plan to put some effort into developing, and several others with potential. Sales? Maybe, but most people obviously would rather find their own deleted domain to reg for $8 than pay me $100+ for one of mine. Still, it's what dreams are made of :)

Errmmm. Can you explain exactly what you mean by that?

Develop in _what_ way?

Maybe Fine was talking about internet use as percentage of the population (about 3% Mexico v. 60% US), meaning that Mexico has more room to grow (in numbers of internet connections)-- theoretically allowing for more potential increase in value of Mexico-related domain names. (source-- NUA Internet Surveys).

Keep having fun down there Drew-- I'm enjoying it vicariously from up here in poor Paducah. Watch out, I may come down there and join you someday :)
