I thought this was funny.

Excerpt from Seattle's Roundtable confrence, taken from DNJournal.com:

"Tim Ruiz said GoDaddy would like to see new gTLDs but wants the process to be changed. When all of the desirable names are grabbed instantly by speculators (as we recently saw with .eu) he said that stunts growth and devalues the space, so his company will push for reform in the way new names are allocated."

Don't know if any of you caught that. Cheers,

Acro

While GoDaddy's motivations may be questionable, his comment is not completely indefensable.

I've used the analogy before of an extension being like a shopping mall. If you open a new shopping mall, it would not be in your best interest for speculators to buy up 90% of the stores and leave them empty. Soon the customers will stop coming and the entire mall will have little value.

I have read in other threads that GoDaddy did poorly for customers with .eu. It's never the guys with really happy customers that are complaining about the system.
